Abstract

Rainfall prediction is a crucial aspect of flood disaster mitigation, especially in coastal areas. This study implements the Mamdani fuzzy logic method to predict rainfall in the southern coastal region based on variables such as rainfall intensity, duration, and river discharge. The Mamdani fuzzy model is employed to handle uncertainties in meteorological data through the stages of fuzzification, fuzzy rule formation, fuzzy inference, and defuzzification. Historical rainfall data from 2024, obtained from BMKG and BPS, serve as input for the model, and testing is conducted using the Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) in Matlab. This research explores the application of the Mamdani fuzzy logic method in predicting rainfall in the southern coastal region. The results demonstrate that fuzzy-based models are reliable for weather prediction, particularly rainfall forecasting, which plays a vital role in flood disaster mitigation. Furthermore, this fuzzy-based prediction system can support decision-making in disaster mitigation planning. With a relatively high level of accuracy, the Mamdani fuzzy method has the potential for further development in advanced AI-based weather prediction systems in the future.
