Abstract

This study aims to describe the description of misconceptions in the concept of the five human senses in fourth grade elementary school students. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with the type of research that is descriptive qualitative by using the Certainty Of Response Index (CRI) method. CRI is a measure of the level of confidence or certainty of the respondent in answering each question given, the research subject consists of 11 students. The research sample was taken using diagnostic tests and interviews, so that misconceptions were obtained. The results showed that the highest misconceptions occurred in the concept of the five senses of sight (eyes) of 74,5%, while the lowest percentage of misconceptions was found in the concept of understanding the five senses of humans by 37.83%. The causes of misconceptions in the material of the five human senses are internal and external factors. Internal factors are those that come from students which associative thinking and wrong intuition, while external factors include teaching methods, books and contexts. Based on these data, it can be concluded that there is a misconception about the concept of the five human senses in fourth grade elementary school students.
